5am wakeups all week got me like. But also loving it...but also commitments are hard to keep up with once motivation leaves the party and tired walks in the door. You know what I’m saying?
Like any goal, it starts with excitement and strong visions of what this goal means to me, how great it will be to have more time in the day, and how it’s going to allow me to ninja crush all my other goals and make all my dreams come true. YES! Day 1 let’s do this! Then what happens is, we start doing it, day 2 still on fire, day 3 still ninja crushing it! And someeeeewhere around day 4 or 5 things start going sideways. Right, are you with me on this? Suddenly reality sets in and knocks us out of our fantasy of how amazing this is going to be and we remember, “OH yeah”, we’re going to have to work to get to that amazingness. And we’re going to meet lots of obstacles to move and work through on the way, figure out how to make this happen amongst the life that has been our engrained routine for the last X years. Hello, wake up call! That is difficult! And hello, even bigger wake up call - were going to want to give up at times. Personally, when I’m tired, I might as well be a dude with a man cold...I am useless. *
So what do we do, how do we stop motivation from leaving the party? How do we keep going despite wanting to give up. I use a few methods like pumping up with good music, making it something I enjoy, giving myself a short term incentive like coffee, having a strong WHY and reminding myself of it daily. But ultimately it comes down to making it a commitment and taking every obstacle as an opportunity to work on getting closer to it! So I stop using the words “I’m tired” even if I feel tired, I practice doing things even when I don’t feel like doing them in the moment, I go to be early to get good rest, I workout to keep my energy up, I eat foods that fuel me, I envision what the best version of myself would do, I envision someone I’m inspired by and what they would do. *
Comment below! if you’re motivation has left the party and you’re trying to refill the punch bowl in hopes that it magically decides to show up again.
